Regulation

When creating this promotional package, it is important to consider the impact it could have on society; Regulation needs to be considered. The BBFC is strict on film trailers as well as the films themselves. Ofcom would also need to be considered for the showing of the trailer on TV. Both regulatory bodies would become involved because, as a film, it would need to be classified by the BBFC, funded by the film industry, and the consumption of the product on TV would need to be regulated by Ofcom, who would receive complaints if the trailer caused distress.
I would rate the film with the certificate of 15, meaning that the trailer would have to be shown after the watershed time of 9pm to protect young children. It would be ridiculous to advertise a thriller during the weekday as the target audience (15-40) would be at work or college meaning that it would be a waste of advertisement and could frighten young children who are watching it.
The content of the film which would be shown would need to be censored for bad language and violence or horrifying images; more reason to be played after the watershed.
